The yard, before it gets away from you
Mowing, weeding, sweeping and light pruning. The outdoor jobs that turn into a hazard if nobody gets to them.
What this covers
Yard work is funded where your disability stops you doing it safely, and where it is about keeping the place safe and usable rather than making it look nice. Overgrown paths, long grass and leaf litter are the things this is really for.
- Mowing, on safe and accessible ground
- Weeding, watering and clearing leaves
- Sweeping and general outdoor tidying
- Light pruning from ground level, using safe tools
- Minor non-trade jobs with basic equipment, where the Support Partner is competent
What we do not do
Everything excluded here is either licensed work or a genuine injury risk. A Support Partner turning up with a mower is not the person for a chainsaw or a gutter, and asking them on the day puts both of you in a bad spot.
- Electrical, plumbing, gas or any other licensed trade work
- Roofs, gutters, ladders or working at height
- Tree lopping, chainsaws or any dangerous powered cutting equipment
- Structural repairs, excavation, major landscaping or renovations
- Pesticides and hazardous chemicals
- Heavy lifting, or unsafe equipment and terrain
What it looks like
Before the grass gets long
A standing mow so it never becomes a job somebody has to rescue.
Clearing the path
Weeds and leaf litter off the walkway and the driveway, so getting to the door is not a hazard.
A tidy up before an inspection
Mown, weeded and swept, with the paths and the entry clear.
How it is funded
This sits in the 0120 Household Tasks billing group, under Core supports, assistance with daily life. If you are plan managed or agency managed, we invoice your plan. If you are self managed, we invoice you.
Questions people ask
Is a garden makeover covered?
No. This is safety and upkeep, not landscaping or design.
Can they cut back the tree at the back?
Light pruning from the ground, yes. Anything needing a ladder, a chainsaw or a climb, no.
Do they bring a mower?
Tell us in the booking. Some Support Partners carry equipment and some work with yours, and we will match accordingly.
Who decides if the ground is safe?
Your Support Partner does, on the day, and they can stop. That is the right answer even when it is the annoying one.
