What this covers
This is the one service on the list where the point is to make yourself need it less. Your Support Partner teaches and coaches rather than doing the task, which is slower at first and worth it after.

What we do not do
The first exclusion is the important one. If a session turns into your Support Partner quietly doing the washing to get it finished, it has stopped being this service and become domestic assistance. Both are fine. They are just funded differently and booked separately.
- Doing the routine task for you instead of teaching you
- Managing your money, cards, accounts or PINs
- Financial advice
- Formal education, therapy or vocational training
- Clinical or behaviour interventions
- Any training that needs specialist qualifications or sign off on your specific needs

Planning, shopping and cooking a meal together, until you are doing it and they are watching.
The bus route you have been avoiding
Ridden together, then ridden with them a step behind, then ridden on your own.
A week that runs itself
Routines, lists and systems built with you, so the week holds together without somebody prompting it.
How it is funded
This sits in the 0117 Development-Life Skills billing group, under Capacity building, improved daily living. If you are plan managed or agency managed, we invoice your plan. If you are self managed, we invoice you.
Questions people ask
How is this different from domestic assistance?
Domestic assistance is someone doing the task. This is someone teaching you to do it. Different funding, different booking, and worth keeping separate.
Will they help me manage my money?
They can teach budgeting. They will not handle your cards, accounts or PINs, or give you financial advice.
How long does it take?
As long as it takes. The measure is whether you need fewer sessions than you did, not whether you finished a course.
Can transport be part of it?
Yes, where the travel is part of the training, like learning a bus route.
