Getting ready, at the time you actually need it

Showering, dressing, grooming and the everyday hygiene that has to happen before the rest of the day can start.

What this covers

Personal care is the most personal thing on this list, so who turns up matters more here than anywhere else. You see the profile before you book, and you can filter on gender, language and experience.

  • Showering and bathing
  • Dressing, grooming, oral hygiene and shaving
  • Routine toileting and continence hygiene
  • Medication reminders, where you handle the medication yourself
  • Verbal prompting and standby support, where you transfer and reposition on your own

What we do not do

This is a deliberate line, not a gap. Those supports need a clinical plan and a worker signed off on your particular equipment, which is not something a network should be matching on demand. If that is what you need, you need a provider set up for it, and we would rather tell you that now than at the door.

  • Lifting, weight bearing, transferring or repositioning you
  • Hoists, slide sheets, transfer belts, or anything needing two people
  • Touching your medication at all: no selecting, opening, preparing, dispensing, storing or administering it
  • Complex bowel care, catheter care, injections, wound care, tube feeding or respiratory support
  • Restrictive practices, or delivering a behaviour support plan
  • Anything that needs a clinical plan, a manual handling plan, or sign off on your specific equipment

What it looks like

  1. A morning that starts on time

Booked for the hour you actually get up, not the hour a roster had spare.

  2. The same person, most weeks

Find someone who suits you and rebook them. Their profile and your preferences carry across.

  3. Someone new, at short notice

When your regular pulls out, you can see who else is free and trained, this morning.

How it is funded

This sits in the 0107 Assist-Personal Activities billing group, under Core supports, assistance with daily life. If you are plan managed or agency managed, we invoice your plan. If you are self managed, we invoice you.

Questions people ask

Can I ask for a Support Partner of a particular gender?

Yes. Set it as a preference and we filter on it. We cannot always match every preference, and the app tells you when we cannot.

Can they give me my medication?

No. They can remind you it is time, but they do not touch it. Not the packet, not the dose, not the storage.

Can they help me transfer from the bed to a chair?

No. They can prompt you and stand by while you do it yourself, but no lifting, weight bearing or repositioning.

What if my needs are more complex than this?

Then Zoomly is the wrong fit and we will say so early. Complex and high intensity personal care belongs with a provider registered and trained for it.
